Rumours of a local festival appearance by former No Doubt singer Gwen Stefani was a gift to the Bristol Evening Post subs: “No doubt Gwen could top the bill.”

However, the report does rather hedge its bets – as well as the provisional “could” in both headline and intro, the piece refers three times to the rumour, and couches the story in terms such as “possible addition to the bill”, “if she is confirmed”, and “nothing has been confirmed”.

Actually quite a lot of doubt, then.
