Tight Telegraph taking the pix over request

After last week’s report of an expenses crackdown at the Daily Telegraph, word reaches me of more belt tightening at Victoria Plaza.

Last year, the paper picked up on a new British bid to break the world speed record in a steam car inspired by the efforts of a group of university students. Boys’ own stuff and manna for the Telegraph newsdesk.

Now I hear me that the organisers of the event – who hope to raise thousands in sponsorship – have found the Telegraph less than grateful for being given the exclusive.

After asking if they could use the Telegraph snapper’s picture in their fundraising brochure they were apparently told: “Sure – it’ll cost you £600.”
