I notice that the twentysomething Ollie Marre who pens The Observerâ€™s very readable Pendennis column came up with what could only be described as a mini scoop recently.

He was the first to predict â€“ and some months back â€“ that former UN under secretary general Mark Malloch Brown (now in the Lords) would be part of Gordon Brownâ€™s new team.
