A reader writes to point out that Ephraim Hardcastle in the Daily Mail keeps using lines like: â€œAmerican TV comic Jay Leno, plumbing uncharted fathoms of bad taste, saysâ€¦.â€

â€œI must have read this line at least three times in his column. Why doesnâ€™t the Mail syndicate the gags direct?â€
