Spare a thought for the newsdesk hacks in London who had to cope with the screeching of one senior national newspaper editorial executive who demanded their urgent assistance after her holiday flight home was delayed.

The â€œgrand dameâ€ ordered her hapless minions to sort out an alternative flight and pronto, according to my spies. Glad to see the bosses are still up to their old tricks.
