Congratulations to Evening Standard diary secretary Esther Walker, who has found a berth at The Independent – where she's moved this week as a feature writer.
Although she was in quite a junior role, Walker actually wrote many of the items in the ES diary each day. A former colleague says: "She was a brilliant writer – witty, crisp and original. You could always tell which stories she had written for their inventive turns of phrase."
Other young hacks who want to move on should take a leaf out of Esther's book.
Priscilla Pollara, who spent many weeks toiling at Tatler, doing work experience, will replace her at the ES.
