Simon Kelner, circa 1981 Former Western Morning News editor Barrie Williamsâ€™ entertaining autobiography, Ink in the Blood, includes this wonderfully dated picture of Independent editor Simon Kelner in 1981.

Looking rather like a cross between Steve Coogan character Paul Calf and cricketer Allan Lamb, Kelner was sports editor of the Kent Evening Post at the time and is pictured with news editor Langley Brown at then-editor Williamsâ€™ leaving party.
