Last Thursday, Dailymail.co.uk readers were shocked and enthralled by an online story revealing that a 33m-deep hole had suddenly appeared in a Guatemala neighbourhood, wiping out a dozen homes.
The story was oddly coy about the timing of the event, only saying that “recent rains†had been to blame.
And that’s probably because it happened a full nine months ago on 23 February, according to Reuters, which broke the story.
Still, a good yarn for Dailymail.co.uk and its 13.5 million readers a month to peruse, however old.
By this rate we can look forward to the Guatemala elections earlier this month to be covered some time in July 2008.
