Farewell to bright young 20-something Matthew Bell, who is leaving the Evening Standard Diary after just eight months.
He has been poached to edit his own column at The Independent on Sunday and will be starting there in the New Year. The ES had quickly snapped up Young Bell, who was unceremoniously kicked out of The Spectator.
I’m told he’s been such a hit at the ES
- that editor Veronica Wadley has offered him shed loads of money to stay.
But the chance to edit his own diary is too tempting to miss.
