It never fails. In the days before of the British Press Awards, everyone in British journalism seems to be on holiday far, far away.
As in previous years, we’ve been flooded calls from national newspaper hacks trying to score a scoop on who will be winning at tonight’s ceremony at the Dorchester Hotel.
The most common rouse is to insist that a nominee lives New Zealand, and would be flown over at great expense only if we could confirm that they have won.
Don’t bother — Security is extraordinarily tight. We don’t know ourselves which of the nominees will be declared the winners.
But we will tell you as soon as the winners are announced: The British Press Awards will be live-blogged here, so subscribe to the Dog RSS feed now.
