The near-fatal crash of the British Airways flight BA038 made the front page of seven national newspapers this morning - but one reporter got closer to the action than most.
The Daily Mail’s Robert Hardman was on board a nearby plane sitting on a runway when the accident happened and wrote up an eye-witness account.
Coincidentally, Hardman spent a day last week learning to fly planes in a simulator (he admits: “My own attempts ended in computerised disaster”) so had at least some insight into the difficulties facing pilot Peter Burkhill.
