Roger Alton scoops job as Spectator’s sports columnist

Former Observer editor Roger Alton has landed his first job since stepping down from the paper last year - sports columnist for weekly news current affairs magazine The Observer.
He replaces former columnist Frank Keating, who left the magazine last year and worked with Alton at The Guardian.
Alton said in an interview with Press Gazette earlier this month that would like to return to journalism - possibly as an editor.
Spectator editor Matthew D’Ancona said Alton was “A hero of mine”.
