Daily Mail claims biggest victory in bag campaign

The Daily Mail claimed the most significant victory so far in its campaign against the plastic bag today reporting that the Chancellor will unveil proposals to curb bag use in tomorrow’s budget.

It claims that supermarkets will be forced to charge for plastic bags by the Treasury and to reveal in their accounts what they have spent the money raised on - a move which may encourage them to spend the cash on environmental projects.
