Editor of IPC’s Country Life magazine, Mark Hedges, has taken a strong “pro GM food” view in an article in this week’s magazine, prompting a reaction from environmentalists.
The article argues that genetically modified food has a number of benefits and that GM technology could help plants withstand the affects of climate change.
A number of environmental groups hit back at Hedges comments in today’s Independent.
Clare Oxborrow, a good campaigner for Friends of the Earth, said: “It’s quite astonishing that Country Life has fallen for the GM industry’s PR machine.”
