News International is considering launching a Polish version of the Sun during this summer’s European Football Championships, Media Week is reporting.

The paper would publish six issues of a 48-page “Polski Sun”, with a print run of 60,000 copies, according to the report.

With England out of the tournament, The Sun has said is will be supporting Poland.

The Sun has toyed with products aimed at Polish readers before. Last year, it mocked up a Polish version of its website following an internal competition.

Several regional newspapers have produced Polish editions, including the Reading Chronicle, the Torquay Herald, the Northern Times and the Ealing Gazette. The Selby Times, meanwhile, has produced an Polish audio version of stories on its website.

At the national newspaper level, the Mail on Sunday has produced a Polish version of its Financial Mail section, but the Sun’s project is believed to be the first time a national paper has produced a foreign-language edition for sale in the UK.
