Private equity consortium confirms Informa approach

Private equity firm Providence Equity Partners has teamed up with The Carlyle Group and approached B2B publisher Informa with a takeover proposal.
In a statement to the stock exchange this afternoon, the consortium said the proposal was “at at an early stage” and said there could be “no certainty that an offer will be made.”
United Business Media said on Tuesday that it had withdrawn from merger talks with Informa.
