Newsnight editor in two-horse race for BBC2 job

The Newsnight editor, Peter Barron, has emerged as one of the leading contenders for the role of BBC2 controller when Roly Keating steps down.

According to the Independent on Sunday, it is a two-horse race between Barron and BBC Four controller Janice Hadlow.

Midday update: Oh no it isn’t. Barron is leaving the BBC to become Google’s new UK head of communications, according to Media Guardian.
