The Guardian has apologised for publishing a piece based on material which tuned out to be a hoax.
The column on police surveillance of photographers, which was published in Friday’s G2 section, said photographers in London had to hold a police permit and wear a radio-linked ID tag.
“The material on which this part of the column was based was a hoax. We apologise for its use,” the paper said.
