UK network Shiny Media is to shut down its football blog Who ate all the Pies? as paidContent reports.
The site’s editor, former Observer Sports Monthly deputy editor Ollie Irish, writes that the site may still have a future, but not in its current form and not as a Shiny Media concern.
Shiny’s managing director Chris Price tells Journalism.co.uk that it’s no secret that “sport is very hard to monetise“.
Shiny co-founder Ashley Norris - who left the company last month - wrote a revealing post soon after on TechCrunch asking why UK blogs had yet to make the big bucks some of their US counterparts are bringing in.
