Dail Mail and General Trust has restructured its regional press division Northcliffe Media - reducing it from six regions, to three.

The current set-up, created two years ago, divided the company into North East, Midlands, West and Wales, South West Dailies, South West Weeklies and South East Weeklies.

It will now be just Midlands and North,  South West and Wales and South East.

Former Leicester Mercury and Nottingham Evening Post editor Alex Leys, who was MD for the Midlands, has been made deputy to Northcliffe boss Michael Pelosi.

There are two new regional managing directors - Phil Inman for Midlands and South, and Steve Anderson-Dixon, for South West and Wales. Richard Karn continues to head up South East.
