The Sun’s splash from January 7, “Terror target Sugar”, is being investigated by the Press Complaints Commission after claims it was a hoax.

The story – which suggested Islamic fundamentalists were targeting well-known British Jews – quoted “Abuislam” on a Muslim online forum who asked: “Have we got a list of top Jews we can target? Can someone post names and addresses?”

The piece also quoted “anti-terror expert” Glen Jenvey who warned of a Muslim backlash after the Gaza conflict.

However, it has been claimed Glen Jenvey and “Abuislam” are the same person.

The story, believed to have originated from an agency, has been removed from The Sun’s website.
