Independent News and Media rebel shareholder Denis O’Brien has suggested the Independent titles to be sold for £1, like the Evening Standard.
O’Brien, who now has a 26.1 per cent stake in IN&M, told the Telegraph: “If they can sell the business in the same way the Evening Standard was sold, then they should do that.”
But he added: “There will be buyers for the Independent because it has a following. There are some great writers.”
