Michael Phelps story helps NOTW hit 2,000 comments

The News of the World’s scoop on Michael Phelps attracted more than 2,000 comments - a record for the site.

And every single comment was moderated.

It hit the 2,000 mark at 7.27 this morning, with the majority of comments coming from the US.

Gary Thompson, associate editor, said: “This figure shows a deep level of interaction with our readers.

“It also represents a fantastic achievement by NGN’s moderation team, who read and approved every entry.”

The Phelps story also helped notw.co.uk become one of the top 1250 sites in the world in the past seven days, as listed by data group Alexa.
