Associated Newspapers is rumoured to be considering scrapping DVD and CD giveaways in the Daily Mail.
According to a Media Week report citing no sources, “it is thought senior executives at the newspaper believe the use of covermounts is a costly exercise, prompting a significant spike in circulation, but not luring in long-term readers”.
The Daily Mail’s circulation in January was down 3.67 per cent year on year to 2,228,897.
