Report: Alexander Lebedev close to buying Independent

London Evening Standard owner Alexander Lebedev is reported to be close to sealing a deal to buy the Independent and the Independent on Sunday.
According to Media Week, citing unnamed sources, a deal could be done by the end of this month.
Lebedev told Bloomberg in January that he was interested in the titles, and Independent News and Media has come under pressure from some shareholders to sell off the two UK titles.
