!!UPDATE 12:45: It’s happened…Former Scotsman editor Mike Gilson to edit Belfast Telegraph!!
Speculation is mounting that former Scotsman editor, Mike Gilson, could be appointed as the new editor of the Belfast Telegraph.
Martin Lindsay retired from the Independent Newspapers title on Friday after 47 years with the paper, the last four of which he spent as editor.
Gilson, who left the Scotsman hurriedly in February as parent company Johnston Press decided to merge the newsroom of the Scotsman and Scotland on Sunday, has been singled out as a leading candidate to replace Lindsay.
However, nothing has yet been confirmed. An announcement about the new editor is expected in the next couple of days.
