C4 chairman: ‘BBC doesn’t want what we want’

Luke Johnson, Channel 4 chairman, has talked down proposals for a tie-up between the channel and BBC Worldwide, the Telegraph reports.
He said the broadcaster must push for “contestable funding” as the group confirmed Andy Duncan, chief executive was stepping down.
He said: “C4 will need to push other solutions, such as receiving licence fee money. We have tried very hard to make it happen [a tie-up with BBC Worldwide]. The BBC don’t want what we want.”
In May, Duncan said a deal between C4 and the BBC’s commercial division could be agreed before Lord Carter’s Digital Britain report that was published in June.
