News of the World feels web boost after reporting Gately death

The News of the World has revealed that 290,000 visitors read its story which broke in the early hours of Sunday morning revealing that former Boyzone singer Stephen Gately had died in Majorca - contributing to total of 585,000 unique visitors for the day, a record for the paper.
The NoW has pointed out that this is the first time that the title’s web audience on a Sunday has been higher than the print sales figure of The People.
