For only the third time in its history, French newspaper Le Monde was not printed yesterday after print workers took strike action over potential job losses.
Around 100 workers at the presses in Ivry walked out after holding an emergency meeting yesterday morning to consider a response to Le Monde’s confirmation that it was considering selling the factory, which employs 270 staff.
According to The Times, Le Monde instead offered readers a free electronic version of the paper online, which usually costs €6 a month.
