ITV News launches six-month obesity investigation

ITV’s Evening News will tonight begin a six-month investigation into obesity in the UK.

Presenter Mary Nightingale will host the series, anchoring ITV Evening News live on launch night and Friday 12 June from the location in England with the highest obesity levels.

The investigation comes after latest obesity data was exclusively given to ITV.

Science editor Lawrence McGinty, consumer editor Chris Choi and political correspondent Alex Forrest will also feature in the series.

ITV News acting editor Jonathan Munro said: “This six-month series will inform ITV Evening News viewers about key issues and challenges by using exclusive research, expert analysis and numerous case studies.”

The series will have its own on-air branding and dedicated section at www.itv.com/news.

BBC Gaza appeal snub: What the columnists make of it

The BBC is back in the firing line following its decision to refuse to broadcast the Gaza appeal.

In the same week that Jonathan Ross returned to the airwaves after a three-month suspension in the wake of “Sachsgate”, newspaper columns are filled once again with Beeb controversy.

Opinion is split, and despite a weekend of protests, complaints and flying shoes, there are some who are in support of the decision. (more…)
