London Press Club Ball - tickets still available

Journalist and broadcaster Kate Silverton is set to host the sixth annual charity fundraising London Press Club Ball on Thursday, 14 October.

Who wants to be a Millionaire? host Chris Tarrant will also appear at the event, auctioning ‘money can’t buy’ prizes for the Journalists’ charity.

Top prize will be the new Audi A1 super-mini, which Audi UK have donated in advance of the car’s November launch date.

The event is returning to the Great Hall of the Natural History Museum, and is being sponsored by Barclays. The Ball patron is Sly Bailey, chief executive of Trinity Mirror newspaper group.

New Statesman launches online business section

The New Statesman has launched an online business section which will feature as many as 30 stories a day on finance and economics news.

Areas covered will include automotive, banking and insurance, energy and clean technology, food and drink, healthcare and pharmaceuticals and technology. (more…)

iPhone App for The Guardian generates £165,000

The Guardian’s App for the iPhone and iPod Touch was downloaded just under 70,000 times in its first month, with 9,000 downloads in its first two days.

Downloads are priced at £2.39, and have already generated £165k of revenue since launch on 14 December (30 per cent of which goes to Apple). (more…)
